What is B-Girl Manifesto?B-Girl Manifesto is an all female monthly showcase series,"celebrating the female energies in hip hop and beyond" by showcasing unsigned female artists of all genres of music. The showcase was created in Washington, DC to give on-the-verge female artists a platform to speak their minds, free their souls, be seen, and be heard. B-Girl Manifesto is now taking advantage of the mainstream new interest in underground music, but we will never sell our souls to conform to the mainstream music that we are forced to hear day in and day out.

DCTV provides fair and equitable opportunities for community residents and organizations to create noncommercial television programs and telecast them on cable channels, free of censorship or editorial control. DCTV engages the entire community in a dialogue that is broadly representative of its varied perspectives and cultures, and ensures the presence of diverse cultural groups and ideas traditionally unheard or underrepresented in the media. The Kids Camp program is geared toward children ages 8-14. Participants spend an entire week brainstorming media ideas for a project and then learn the skills required to produce their project in an environment that emphasizes fun. The DCTV Youth Video Festival was begun in 2005 with the goal of showcasing the work of young producers in the District. The adult producers were honored each year at our Viewer’s Choice Awards, and as more and more young people attended youth training programs DCTV felt that they deserved equal recognition. Exposing young people to television, media and new technology has been a major focus for DCTV since 2005. Washington, DC is one of the most important media markets in the world and many of the jobs are filled by people from outside the District. DCTV believes that our home grown talent deserves the training and opportunity to compete for those well-paying media jobs. This year, the Youth Video Festival will be screened in the largest theatre at Landmark’s E Street Cinema and the winner of Best In Show will receive a DC Shorts Film Festival Award for best Youth Program. DCTV is going to emphasize the importance of this honor by giving kids the full Red Carpet treatment, with Red Carpet interviews, paparazzi and free refreshments. |
